Targeting Australian Regulation Reform in the shadow of economic inertia

Targeting Australian Regulation Reform in the shadow of economic inertia Currently under pressure for reforms to the franchising industry, Federal Small Business Minister Craig Emerson, admits ‘reforms are about protecting the industry long-term’, suggesting Australian regulation reform should have a ‘targeted approach’.

Fitting then that Dr Emerson speak at the upcoming Australian Regulation Reform 2009 conference on The Face of Regulatory Reform in the Shadow of Economic Inertia, when he is being so heavily targeted for his measured line to franchising reform.

The conference will also feature key government officials and business professionals, sharing a keen interest to develop strategies for better regulation and government harmonisation.

Participating speakers include the Executive Director, Office of Best Practice, Department of Finance and Deregulation, ACCC, Public Sector Performance Commission (SA), Department of Sustainability & Water (VIC), as well as an international guest presenter, Jorg Stephan, Regulatory Advisor (Better Regulation), European Union.
