This is a great app for anyone who has wondered about how the government spends their tax dollars or anyone who has looked for specific information on government spending.

This application provides specific and detailed information for all the money spent on (US federal) government contracts. It provides detailed spending data with spending numbers, trends, pie charts, line graphs, purchases, contractors.

The app queries federal government servers with  several different query criteria such as 'spending by department' (e.g. Education Department), 'spending by product' (e.g. weapons), 'spending by state (e.g. California)' The app gets regular updates on current year spending and it also includes historical data (upto 2000).

This is a great tool that will help the involved citizen who wants to hold government accountable for spending decisions and it will help the casual user understand what the government is spending money on.
